چکیده

Proximal junctional kyphosis is an increasingly recognized complication following long-segment posterior spinal fusion for adult spinal deformity. The authors describe a novel technique for interspinous ligament reinforcement at the proximal adjacent levels using a cadaveric semitendinosus tendon graft secured with an Ethibond No. 2 double filament (Ethicon, Somerville, New Jersey) via the Krackow suture weave. A retrospective review identified 4 patients who had received this graft. No proximal junctional kyphosis was seen at a mean short-term follow-up of 5.5 months. Interspinous ligament reinforcement at the proximal adjacent level with a cadaveric semitendinosus tendon graft is a feasible strategy for preventing proximal junctional kyphosis. Patient and surgeon factors associated with postoperative kyphosis after laminoplasty

Expansive cervical laminoplasty began its evolution in the 1970s in Japan for the treatment of cervical spondylotic myelopathy secondary to ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament or cervical spondylosis. The goal of the procedure is to reduce the complications associated with the inherent destabilization associated with laminectomy while preserving cervical spine range of motion [1]. I...

A Case of 3-month-old Neglected Elbow Dislocation Managed by Open Reduction and Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Using Tendon Graft

Introduction Old neglected posterior type of elbow dislocations is not very common and generally requires open reduction. It was usually treated with open reduction and K-wire stabilization. We did a newer method in which in addition cruciate type ligament reconstruction; we have reconstructed lateral ulnar collateral ligament (LUCL) and UCL (medial collateral ligament) using semitendinosus gra...

Isolation and Characterization of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells From Facet Joints and Interspinous Ligaments.

STUDY DESIGN A descriptive in vitro study on isolation and differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from the facet joints and interspinous ligaments. OBJECTIVE To isolate cells from the facet joints and interspinous ligaments and investigate their surface marker profile and differentiation potentials. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Lumbar spinal canal stenosis and ossifica...

Erratum to “Adequacy of Semitendinosus Tendon Alone for Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Graft and Prediction of Hamstring Graft Size by Evaluating Simple Anthropometric Parameters”

INTRODUCTION Preoperative identification of patients with inadequate hamstring grafts for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is still a subject of interest. PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine whether the semitendinosus tendon length is adequate for four-strand graft harvested by common technique (without bone plug) and whether there is correlation of gracilis and semite...

Patellar tendon versus quadrupled bone-semitendinosus anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: a prospective clinical investigation in athletes.

PURPOSE Patellar tendon and hamstrings are both used in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, and comparisons have been reported with different results. The purpose of this clinical study was to compare the results of ACL reconstruction in athletes with 2 different graft types, both using bone-to-bone healing: bone-patellar tendon-bone graft and a quadrupled bone-semitendinosus graft...
